Audubon led birding hike along the Gila River

Description: Visit two fairly close, easily accessible, popular birding sites; Mangus Springs and
the Iron Bridge. The first is a short road bordering private land with small marsh and creek. The
Iron Bridge is an old road on Nature Conservancy land along the Gila River. These sites are 15 and 30 miles west of Silver City.

Difficulty: Easy
Terrain: Mostly level but uneven ground, with some brush to walk through. If the river is accessible at that time,
there is a gentle slope and some walking will be on sand and maybe some cobble.
What to Bring: Binoculars if you have them. (There will be a few extras available.) Snacks,
Water, Hat/sun protection.
